All rugby league clubs in Auckland will get a chance to clash over summer in hopes to become junior Kiwi Tag champions.

The Auckland Rugby League in partnership with Kiwi Tag New Zealand, have launched a club versus club junior tournament open to all, which kicks off on February 16, 2019.

The tournament will see a number of boys and girls from U6/7 through to U12/13s, representing their clubs in club gear.  

ARL football development officer Thaine Ashford said the tournament is designed to give coaches and clubs a head start to the season. 

“The tournament will give junior coaches the chance to recruit players from outside our code, to potentially become a part of our game,” Ashford said.

“For our Auckland clubs we want them to see the benefits it has in hopefully increasing player numbers before the season has even begun.”
